Three designs of these posters were printed. The “Your Courage, Your Cheerfulness, Your Resolution Will Bring Us Victory” Freedom Is In Peril. Defend It With All Your Might” Sept 1939. These print-runs were made by the British Ministry of Information during the start of World War II. The “Keep Calm and Carry On” poster were printed but never distributed. It was purely intended to boost and strengthen the morale of citizens during crisis or an invasion.
One copy of the “Keep Calm and Carry On” posters was re-discovered in 2000 in in Barter Books, a second-hand bookshop in Alnwick, Northumberland, North East England. The Crown Copyright has expired and the crown image is now in the free domain. As such – these posters and its parodies have been created and circulated.
For the iOS devices – there are about 30 apps available for the creation of these posters. After downloading 7 apps! The one I found most useful and user friendly was the created by Back Bay Bytes. You can add on your own logos to replace the original Crown logo. Your own custom logos have a funny way being distorted. The quick work-around is to take a screenshot of your own logo on the iOS device – after that – the logo will miraculously be distortion free! This app also allows for the poster to be square or normal (standard poster). The app costs USD0.99.
The other app is by Space Monkeys Inc. I have a soft spot for this app as one of my furkids is called Space Monkey. The only advantage this app has it the ability to move the logo to any position. Most of the other apps only allow the logo to be placed on top. This app also costs USD0.99.
